0SCHOOLS TO EXPLORE
This is a curated starting directory, not a live vacancy feed or a complete college database. The default list requires matching position and entry-year evidence, plus your team, region and division filters. Coverage varies by sport; confirm current team sponsorship and athletic fit with the school. Athletic fit compares your measurable stats with school targets you record; it does not predict offers.

How to use the recruiting tool

Start with an athlete profile, add current stats and film, then use position-specific evidence to build and track a school list.

  1. Create or choose an athlete. Click + New athlete and enter the full name. Press Enter or leave the name field to search MaxPreps. Choose Use this profile beside the correct school and class. Use Saved athletes to return to an existing profile. To remove one, select it, click Delete profile and confirm. Its shortlist and recruiting notes are removed too. Undo last profile deletion restores the most recently deleted profile and notes.
  2. Review the profile. Set the entering year, team, sport and position. The entering year is the year the athlete starts college. Expand Email profile & film links to add the high school, GPA, athlete email, optional X account, phone and intended major. In the X account section, click Retrieve username to check linked public profiles, then Use in emails on the correct account. If none is listed, use Search by name and enter the verified handle manually. All profile fields are editable. Click Save profile.
  3. Import MaxPreps stats. Selecting a MaxPreps profile starts the stats lookup. You can also paste the athlete’s URL and click Auto import stats. Choose the correct season and team, review the preview, then click Apply stats. The default keeps other accomplishments and updates previous automatic imports. Use Paste manually if published stats cannot be retrieved. Imports capture published data at that time; click again to refresh.
  4. Import Hudl highlights. To find a Hudl profile, enter a name or username and click Search Hudl profiles. This opens public web results; copy the correct profile URL. You can also enter a numeric Hudl profile ID to import directly. Paste a public Hudl profile, video or short share link under Hudl highlights, then click Auto import Hudl highlights. Confirm the athlete, select up to three videos, and click Import selected highlights. Existing links stay unless you choose Replace existing highlight slots. Edit titles or paste links directly, then click Save highlights. Private videos are not imported.
  5. Find schools for the selected position. Choose a region, NCAA division or NAIA, conference, and optional state. Conference options reflect the current directory and selected sport; football affiliations may differ from other sports. Click Find schools. Position leads shows matching position and entry-year evidence. Confirmed position openings shows needs you recorded with a source and date. Explore unverified schools opens the broader directory. Coverage is limited: no results means no matching evidence is recorded, not that no opportunities exist.
  6. Filter by athletic fit. Use Import MaxPreps fit stats to retrieve published stats. Select the correct season and apply, then choose up to three published measures for athletic fit. Review the name, unit and higher/lower direction. Existing values stay unless you select a replacement. Enter stats manually focuses the editable fields; missing published stats can always be entered manually. Expand Athletic fit · measurable stats in the athlete profile. Enter metric names with units, values and whether higher or lower is better. In a school’s Contact & notes, add targets from a coach or school source and its date. Select an Athletic fit filter under School preferences. Missing stats or targets show Not enough data. Targets apply only to the recorded sport, team, position, year and metric definitions. Both athletic fit and position-need filters apply; use Explore unverified schools to compare the wider directory. Fit is a numerical comparison, not an offer prediction.
  7. Build a shortlist and track conversations. Click + Shortlist on a school. Use Contact & notes or Edit in My shortlist to save coach contacts, recruiting status, last contact, follow-up date and notes. For a coach-confirmed opening, enter the specific position, entry year, source URL and evidence date. Roster turnover is a lead and does not confirm an open roster spot or scholarship.
  8. Prepare a coach email. Click Coach email on a school. Choose introduction, follow-up or season update. Add the coach’s name, verified email and an optional reason for choosing the school. Review the subject, stats and highlight links. Use Copy, Download email or Open email app. Opening the email app does not send the message. You review and send it yourself.
  9. Download your tracker and protect your work. Download results exports the currently filtered school list. Tracking sheet exports the active athlete’s shortlist. Both are CSV files for Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets. In My shortlist, use Download backup to save all profiles and notes as an app backup. Use Restore an app backup to load it later. Profiles and notes save in this browser and do not sync across devices; keep backups before clearing browser data.
